On The Curing Rack: Peppermint Vanilla

Posted by: on May 4, 2012 | 3 Comments

I wanted to make peppermint soap for a long time now but when it came to finally finding the time I realized I didn’t just want to make a basic peppermint soap. After all, it wouldn’t be a handmade Brooklyn Bath soap if I didn’t put a twist to it.

I decided to make a blend of peppermint and vanilla with this batch. And so because vanilla naturally discolors because of its vanillin content I wanted to make sure I designed this soap as pleasing as possible.

The result was a 3 layer soap with the peppermint and vanilla blend as the 1st layer. As you can see from the photo below the layer naturally discolored to a taupe color. The 2nd and 3rd layer consisted of just peppermint fragrance.

This soap is a fresh and warm at the same time – yes it’s possible! It will be available for purchase in our Etsy shop on 5/20/12. To pre-order you can personally contact me at rose@brooklynbath.com

Such a pretty soap. I’m sure it smells as good as it looks!

It looks absolutely lovely! I love playing with fragrances that naturally discolor and using that idea to make soaps, great job!
