One of the greatest moments I spend at Brooklyn Bath is telling our customers, friends and family of how and why we got started.
Growing up I was always into natural skin care – especially since it came straight from my kitchen (or Mom’s I should say). I loved reading Cosmopolitan and Mademoiselle magazine (at 14 I know! please don’t tell my Mom haha!) articles on how easy you can take everyday kitchen pantry items and use them for skin care.
My favorite natural ingredients were egg whites as a firming mask, facial steams using rosemary sprigs and rosewater with glycerin to moisturize my skin.
Fast forward to 2009 and I was working at a mobile technology company. One of my very cool co-workers confessed to me that he makes candles and soap as holiday gifts for his friends and family. Okay, we’re talking about an IT guy with a military background. Think Major Payne on a computer. As we continued to talk I mentioned to him how I was always interested in natural skin care and collected books that showed you how to use everyday kitchen staples for skin care.
One look at this book and my IT friend suggested I give soapmaking a try. “Why not!” – he said and gave me some leads to research. One of the leads that I tried led me to Brambleberry and Handmade Soap Coach. I started learning more about natural ingredients and how people with skin sensitivities can enjoy bath and body care without affecting them. I took a workshop with Handmade Soap Coach and started learning how to make soap and body care that will benefit my family and my friends.
What began as curiosity has now transformed itself to a passion for handmade soap and body care, the excitement of meeting other bath and body company owners and the creation of my own brand – Brooklyn Bath.
Today, Brooklyn Bath creates an incredible variety of handcrafted soaps and body care. I welcome you to visit our online shop at www.brooklynbath.etsy.com to view our awesome products. We also accept custom orders as well.
