Trip to the Lavender Farm

It’s been a full work week and all you want is to de-stress with a capital “D”. So what do you do on Saturday? Head over to a lavender farm and deeeee-stress.

I headed over to Pleasant Valley Lavender Farm in Morganville, New Jersey last month with a few of my colleagues – Naturally Good Soaps, Handmade Soap Coach, Wonder Curl, Bubs and Scrubs, Skin Caring Soaps, Johnetta Miner, Savvy Preneur & Heaven Scent Beauty.

I’ve never been to a lavender farm before so didn’t really know what to expect. Boy was I blown away – or should I say “calmed away”. Entering the driveway of the farm greeted me rows upon rows of beautiful fragrant lavender and seeing the purple fields automatically put me in a sedated state of mind.

Pleasant Valley Lavender Farm is the only lavender farm in New Jersey. The owners grow over 20 varieties of lavender including english, french and white lavender. Yep,  purple is not the only color this aromatic plant blooms.

White Lavender

Once inside the lavender farm we were greeted by the owners and their cute little dog whom they just adopted.

We were given a tour of the lavender farm and a brief history of this most popular fragrant herb used in perfumes, bath and body care, cooking and holistic care. We were delighted to know that at this farm we can pick our own lavender. The owner showed us quickly how to cut the lavender. I was more than happy to pick English and white lavender.

After a quick tour and picking we settled down under the tent set up for our group and enjoyed the farm’s complimentary lavender lemonade (refreshing and delicious!), cookies and a great chance to catch up with my friends and talk shop. We were excited to get a chance to talk about lavender and the many ways we can use it. Check out Pleasant Valley’s Basic recipe page! I’m definitely going to make some lavender lemonade – my instant love. And I must say, I can definitely see myself sleeping in the middle of the lavender fields…ZZZzzzzzzz……

Want to indulge in some R& R? Head over to our shop and purchase Brooklyn Bath’s Lavender Breeze handmade soap – our best seller!

Rosie, our #indiemeetup at Pleasant Lavender Farm was great even though it was very hot that day. To spend time with others who love the same thing I do is always a great day. The lavender was so beautiful and fun cutting. I have mine drying now….I can’t wait to use it in a batch of soap soon!!
