HerbStalk 2013 – Somerville

This year along with my soapy pal and owner of Naturally Good Soaps – Melissa Rivera – I went to HerbStalk 2013 in Somerville, MA.

HerbStalk is an annual event organized by herbalists and community members to provide herbal education to the community. This is a 2-day event filled with herbal workshops – for both the novice and master, vendors selling delicious goodies, and bath and body owners selling their incredible herbal body care products.
Melissa and I enlisted for the “Herbal First Aid Kit” workshop by Kristin Avonti of Tree of Dreams Sanctuary. We learned a wonderful array about herbs and how they can help out in a pinch. Some herbs we learned about were how to use calendula (marigold) as a soothing tonic. Kristin went over a vast information on how to use tinctures as a daily health maintenance for the body. We even got to try some rich herbal creams in class!

Of course, once class was finished we headed over to the vendors to shop herbal goodies and also to talk with herbal academies. Among the great people we saw, we got to chat with Kathy from Herbal Revolution and Terri from Artemisia Botanicals. We checked out each single table and even the great big tables laden with herbs for purchase.
I will definitely say we had an incredible time and the weather finally warmed up with sunny skies as it had been raining the day before. I left HerbStalk with a bag full of sample goodies, and a good dose of herbal education.
